Year 6 visit Swaffham Museum

On Wednesday 22nd March Year 6 visited the museum in Swaffham. The children have been studying Ancient Egypt and carrying out their own research into the death of Tutankhamen.

Howard Carter, the archaeologist who discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun, spent his early years in Swaffham before leaving to work in Egypt.

The children took part in a variety of activities. They had to find and identify artefacts from different eras, from early man to modern day. In the Howard Carter room, which is full of exhibits from Ancient Egypt, they took part in a very interesting question and answer session, which was lead by Sue from the museum educational department. She was very impressed by the extent of the children's knowledge and their ability to put forward their own theories, backed up by their individual research. The afternoon ended with craft activities and the children made necklaces and charms to take home.

Judged by Ofsted to be OUTSTANDING in March 2009 and OUTSTANDING in ALL Areas in November 2014. See the full report on the Ofsted website.
