An exciting term draws to a close

Our open day this Wednesday was a huge success!  We were delighted by the comments made by prospective parents and the Mayor of Downham Market, who asked if she could visit after meeting our Year 6 pupils at the St. Winhold’s Fair event.  They were all very impressed by the children’s behaviour, good manners and friendliness.

They were also surprised by the children’s subject knowledge, levels of attainment and enthusiasm in class.  Many visitors stayed in lessons for a long time as they were very interested in our methods of teaching.  These included, teachers from other schools, who have chosen to send their children to us for their education.

Whilst I was showing these parents around the school and explaining our teaching methods and ethos, I thought about our current parents.  Many of you visited and registered your children a long time ago and since that initial tour, you have never had the opportunity to observe the children in lessons on a normal working day and see for yourselves,  why the school has been judged Outstanding and why we are so proud or our pupils.

Next term we will be arranging separate open days for the parents of each year group and inviting you in to tour the  school and observe lessons, play times, assemblies etc., on a normal day, where the children will follow their usual timetable.  You will then have the opportunity to see for yourselves the children at work and at play,  We will send more information home at the the start of next term.

This term finishes with our egg roll and egg hunt in the gardens, which all the children are looking forward to.

On behalf of all the staff, myself and my family I wish you all a very happy Easter break.
