A message from our new Headmaster, Mr Paul Cochrane

May I firstly say how honoured and privileged I feel to have been appointed as Headmaster at Downham Preparatory School and Montessori Nursery.

Immediate impressions highlight a School with a unique family orientated atmosphere containing happy, friendly and extremely well motivated children.

Throughout my teaching career I have always followed a simple educational ethos that allows children to develop at their own pace in an inspirational academic environment. Children not only need to achieve academically but to also develop good manners and a sense of fun and worth in today's world.

I initially trained to teach Physical Education at Borough Road College (Brunel University) and have over the last thirty five years taught English, Geography, History and Religious Education in three very different Preparatory Schools. I was Housemaster at Heath Mount Preparatory for ten years before securing my first Headship at Tettenhall College in the West Midlands. In 2007 I joined Riddlesworth Preparatory School, immediately introducing coeducation to a school that I am sure many of you know well.

I am very much looking forward to meeting you all over the next few months. Over the last two weeks I have spent time getting to know your wonderful children and what a joy it is proving.
