Two Choirs for the Price of One

The recent concert by our School Choir and the St Edmundsbury Male Voice Choir was a wonderful example of what makes our school unique and special.

It was an unexpected amalgamation of mostly modern music, not at all what you might assume given the venue, with just enough of a classical touch to pay homage to the incredible building with an acoustic to match.

The real show was how incredible both choirs sounded in this environment. The male voice choir was captivating to listen to, only occasionally, could you hear the full power and depth in their voices, which kept you waiting with eager anticipation. The combination of this giant power with the enthusiastic and energy filled singing from our children, was beautifully controlled and balanced by the choir master Mr Jefferson. It’s one of those occasions where that you really had to be there to experience the magic of event, especially with the back drop of St Nicholas’ chapel offering an unusually warm ambiance, not the draughty cold you would expect on a chilly January night. I would encourage anyone, who has the opportunity, to visit this venue and enjoy the space.

We should not forget that this was a charity event, created to raise money to help families in circumstances we all hope we never have to deal with. It is beyond comprehension to imagine what it would be like to have a child in a hospice for end-of-life care.

For the vast majority of us, this will never touch our lives, but for those that have this situation thrust upon them, the very least we can do is try to offer our help. That is what this event was all about - to offer children and families an environment that allows them to be together when it is most important.

Our school has chosen to help this charity (EACH) raise money to build the hospices so vitally needed. If there is anything you feel you can offer to help us in supporting this cause, then we would be truly grateful for your contributions, ideas for other events to raise money, offering your time and expertise, or showing your support by coming to the events we are planning for the future.

The School Choir will be performing again at the Schools Make Music Concert at 7pm on Tuesday 6th March at the Corn Exchange, Kings Lynn. It would be wonderful to see people there to support our school.
