New Scholarships announced

This year we are extending our age range to include Year 7 and from September 2020 Year 8.

For the first time, we are offering scholarships to children with outstanding potential, who would like to enroll in our school for entry in years 4,5,6 and 7.

Sports Scholarship

The school has a very strong sporting tradition with several of our pupils being selected to play at county level.

Our sports teachers are highly qualified and are experienced coaches.

We play rugby, netball, hockey and football matches against other Independent and local state schools, we also have an athletic team and cross-country runners.

If your child is talented at any of these sports we would like to invite them to take part in some of our coaching sessions. On the recommendation of our Sports teachers you may then be offered a Sports Scholarship for your child.

 Music Scholarship

Our Headmaster, Mr Mark Jefferson, is a highly qualified musician, conductor and musical director.

Our school choir has been invited to perform in many venues and we often join the St. Edmundsbury Male Voice Choir, of which Mr Jefferson is the conductor, to hold concerts to raise money for local charities.

Every Summer the school stages our own version of a popular musical, these have included, Oliver, Bugsy Malone, Joseph, Lion King, Wizard of OZ, Cats and a special performance of songs from the war years to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the end of the Great War. This year we will be performing Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Pupils all learn to act, sing, read and compose music. Individual tuition is available for piano, guitar and violin.

If your child is a talented musician we would like to invite him/her to visit the school and take part in some music and singing lessons with Mr Jefferson, who will recommend suitable candidates for music scholarships.

Academic Scholarships

From year 1 our pupils are taught by subject specific teachers. (The system that is used in High Schools but not Primaries). This ensures that the person teaching each subject has a greater depth of knowledge and love the subject that they teach. This makes their lessons more interesting and challenging.

All subjects are taught every week. The curriculum is very broad and each day is divided into six lessons. Subjects taught are English, Maths, Science, Geography, History, R.E, Drama, Music, Spanish, French, I.T, Swimming and Sports.

Our aim is to ensure that every child reaches their maximum potential across a wide range of subjects.

Our Gifted and Talented pupils are working at one or two years above their chronological age. For example, in our current Year 6, three pupils are studying the KS3 (High School) curriculum.

If your child is academically gifted we will invite him/her to the school for assessment and confirm if they will be offered a scholarship.
