In Rememberance Assembly today the children learnt about the Great War and Armistice Day. We read a poem, in Flanders Fields and talked about why we hold a service of Rememberance and buy poppies. Each child made a poppy and attached a name to it copied from the war memorial in Downham. We remembered all of those who have given their lives to make our world a safer place. We said a special prayer for all of those who continue to help us and look after us today.
